  • I’m so proud of myself.  I bought a wireless router yesterday so I
couldget my computer online upstairs in my room but the signal strength
was terrible.  Holding a connection was evidently, too much to
ask. I even rewired the entire downstairs network to gain an extra 10
feet or so closer and not much help.  I finally got it so it would
sort of work but if anyone walked in front of my door or basically in
the hallway in general, it would interfere with the connection.

So this morning I woke up because mhy computer was beeping at me cuz
the Internet was down.  After resetting the router and modem and
getting it back online, it looked like it was working but it was
uber-slow. So I played around with it and still it was being just plain
annoying.   I was really ready to box up the whole thing and
bring it back to Staples as soon as a car was available for me.
But because I’m a genius, I decided to tinker with some settings in the
router.  I throttled down the transfer rate from the default of
best to 2 Mbps and now, it’s working superb! I’m going to try it out
with some online games but I think I’ve nailed it down. In short, I’m
    the man.
